Be sure to bring photo I.D. with you when you visit Capitol Hill. You will need to pass through security and your bags will be x-rayed and/or searched before you are allowed to enter the Rayburn House Office Building. Do not bring your luggage with you to Capitol Hill - check into your hotel first and leave your luggage there.
Due to tightened security, many streets on Capitol Hill are closed and parking is limited. PSM meeting attendees are urged to take taxis or the Metro to Capitol Hill. The taxi ride from either the hotel or AAAS is about 10-15 minutes and should cost about $8.00 for the first passenger and $1.50 for each additional passenger. The Rayburn House Office Building is located on the unit block of Independence Avenue SW, directly across from the U.S. Capitol.
To take Metro, Washington's subway system, walk to the Metro Center station at 12th and G Streets NW or the McPherson Square Station at 14th and I Streets NW. Take the Orange or Blue Line to the Capitol South station. You will exit the station using the escalator at First Street SE between C and D Streets. To reach the Rayburn House Office Building, at the top of the escalator continue straight onto First Street SE. At the first intersection, turn left on C Street SE. Walk two blocks and turn right on South Capitol Street. The entrance to the Rayburn House Office Building is halfway up that block on the left. The entire trip will take about 25 minutes and will cost $1.35.
