STEM Workforce Data Project
The STEM Workforce Data Project identifies and distributes reliable statistics on scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical (STEM) workers in the United States. The project draws on the full range of statistical resources offered by U.S. federal agencies as well as other private sources of information, to issue reports and data in both print and electronic formats. This project is supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. For more information about the STEM workforce data project, call CPST at (202) 326-7080 or e-mail one of the principal investigators: Lisa Frehill, Research Director, CPST or Richard Ellis, Ellis Research Services.

Supporting Reports
The number of STEM related "green jobs" has increased over the last few years. One area of "green job" creation has been in the "clean energy" sector. A report by Kamman, Kapadia and Fripp explores the number and type of jobs that can be generated in the clean energy industry.

IT Workforce Data Project
The IT Workforce Data Project, supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, identified trustworthy statistics on information technology workers in the United States. The most recent project report, The Outlook in 2003 for Information Technology Workers in the USA, by Richard Ellis and B. Lindsay Lowell, was released during a Congressional "Breakfast Bytes" briefing on Capitol Hill on September 17, 2003. This report provides original and updated information regarding the effects of the recession, as well as trends in immigration, higher education and outsourcing.
