Welcome to CPST
Diversifying STEM
Effective Strategies to Diversify STEM Faculty are "best practices" that can be used by faculty and academic administrators to convince their peers to increase faculty diversity. The following presentations are also available on a CD, produced with support from the National Science Foundation. Copies of the CD may be obtained by contacting CPST at info@cpst.org.
PowerPoint Slides for You to Download and Use in Your Own Presentations:
These presentations provide you with slides that motivate the issue of diversity; provide data about the representation of women and minorities in different fields, and provide you with information on promising practice for faculty recruitment, retention, and advancement.

Professional Societies' Role in Increasing STEM Diversity
How can professional societies work towards increasing diversity in the STEM fields? The presentations, below, are from a workshop sponsored by CPST, in collaboration with the Association for Women in Science and the National Academies' Committee on Maximizing Opportunities for Women in Science, Engineering and Medicine in February 2008. The workshop was supported by the National Science Foundation. A new request for funds is currently under consideration at NSF to continue this work.

Other Resources: Data Collection, Analysis, and Presentation "Toolkits"
The ADVANCE: Institutional Transformation program has been working to increase faculty diversity at 34 campuses across the United States. Funded by the National Science Foundation in 2001, the program represents a data-driven effort to increase the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women, especially women of color, in academic STEM. These toolkits provide you with guidelines to implement a data-driven effort in your own organization. These toolkits were also developed with National Science Foundation funding.
